Sculptra has recently been approved for use in the United States to
enhance facial volume.Sculptra has been used in Europe for the past 6-7
years, with an excellent safety profile and pleasing results.
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a synthetic, injectable poly L-lactic acid molecular
structure that when added to water and injected under the skin,
stimulates natural collagen growth to help fill out, "volumize" and
"lift" facial contours.
What are the benefits?
Reduction of wrinkles, an up-lifting of facial features and filling
of areas that have lost volume over the years.
What is the nature of the treatment?
The Sculptra solution is injected with a short, tiny needle just
under the thick part of the skin (dermis). Lidocaine is added for local
anesthetic effect to reduce discomfort.
When will you see results?
The tissues will immediately firm up with the volume of Sculptra
injected, then will revert to the original look as the new collagen
grows. Results may be seen in three to five weeks.
How long does it last?
Sculptra effects last approximately two years..
How often can it be done?
Sculptra treatments require two to three sessions, generally three,
at intervals of three to six weeks.
What can you expect immediately after a treatment?
Some swelling and bruising may be expected and may last several days
to a week. There is really no "down time" and make-up may be applied.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the amount of area treated and the amount of Sculptra
used, from fifteen to thirty minutes.
