Restylane Cosmetic Treatments

Restylane is a recently FDA approved cosmetic filler treatment that has had extensive use in Europe for years, with a remarkable safety profile.

What is Restylane?
Restylane is a purified non-animal form of hyaluronic acid, a substance found in the connective tissue of our skin. It is a virtually non-allergenic, naturally occurring substance that gives form and smoothness to the skin. It is injected under the skin to reduce wrinkles and furrows.

What are the benefits?
Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It is also used for lip augmentation. Restylane is the perfect complement to Botox Cosmetic injections. For example, Botox helps to eliminate the wrinkles of the upper face, while Restylane may be used to decrease the nasolabial folds and create more contoured and fuller lips with less lipstick “bleeding”.

What is the nature of the treatment?
Restylane is injected with a tiny needle under the skin, elevating wrinkles or folds to generate a smooth contour. As there is some discomfort with the injection, a topical anesthetic is often applied and in certain areas, nerve infiltration with a local anesthetic will reduce or eliminate any discomfort.

When will you see the results?
As the Restylane is injected, the results are immediate.

How long does it last?
Restylane generally lasts 6 months.

How often can it be done?
Restylane treatments are generally performed every 6 to 12 months.

What can you expect immediately after treatment?
Some swelling around the areas of injection is to be expected and may last several days to a week.

How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the areas treated and the amount of Restylane used, approximately 30 minutes.
